Well movies that are made in Pakistan have but little to do with controversy. However, Maalik was an exception as the movie was less discussed for its story line or treatment and more for the controversies that surrounded the movie.
Maalik went on to face the wrath of the government followed by a ban imposed on it by the Government of Pakistan. However, the controversy and ban surrounding the movie was about the political storyline and subject of the movie and not about any obscenity.
The interesting part of the ban which was placed on the movie was that it further elevated the interest of the masses in the movie.
The movie has been made by none other than Ashir Azeem the actor who despite of having only one drama to his credit managed to live in the minds and rule the hearts of people. The movie was therefore, an eagerly awaited one as Ashir Azeem had always said that the movie was meant to deliver a message to the masses of Pakistan.
Once the movie was released it garnered mix to good reviews and while many praised it for its content there were many who failed to see anything extra ordinary about the movie.
However, once the ban was imposed and the movie was taken down from the theaters the producer of the movie moved the court to reinstate the screening of the movie in the theaters. The producer was indeed in luck as the movie release was reinstated by the court and it once again managed to see the day light.
However, despite of everything the movie enjoyed popularity among masses and went on to enjoy the highest IMBD rating any Pakistani movie has enjoyed so far.
